Am I over expecting, or does Hamilton get more credit than it deserves? I am not saying it is not good. It is certainly above average, probably among my top list. But is it better than Les Miserable, Wicked, or even Phantom of Opera? Even if it is the best, does it deserve a sold out half a year in advance, or trying lottery for a hundred time? Is it popular because it is great, or is it great because it is popular?
The legacy of a person, and the preserve of it, seems to be the theme of the show. But surely the values on which this nation was built on, the values that Hamilton fought for and died for, could be a more meaningful topic than getting the history to remember you? Hamilton is a great man not because history remembers him. History remembers him because he is the great man who defend freedom and other values this nation stands for.
Especially, in a time that people blindly believe liars who say whatever people want to hear to get a vote, isn’t it better to remind people what the fathers of the nation believe when they found the country, than to tell people to do whatever it takes to leave a name in history?
Only the selfish immature dreamers think about their names. The great who changes history does not think of leaving legacy, but do.
